Revelations of science help us make meaning out of death and love.

The Cost of Love

The microbe is immortal
It does not know of death
It simply goes on dividing
And never loses breath.

We humans shed our bodies
To sickness, death, decay
But our souls just keep on dancing
To laugh another day.

In exchange for eternal bodies
We can see the stars above
And see a thousand sunsets
And have the chance to love.

DNA writes the script of life
For creatures large and small
For those that divide and those that love
Our Creator’s way for all.

We are not immortal
We know the pain of death
Yet we are blessed with loving
With awareness of each breath.
